Frank Grillo Owns the Role Grillo plays Roy Pulver, a retired Special Forces veteran trapped reliving the day of his murder. He’s perfectly cast: world-weary, sarcastic, and physically convincing in the action scenes. As the movie progresses, he evolves from a shrugging fatalist (“I’ll die again in 10 minutes, so who cares?”) to a man rediscovering love and purpose. His narration is hilarious and gives the film a pulpy, 80s-action-hero vibe.

The Groundhog Day loop is used brilliantly. Each reset, Roy learns a little more—a new route, an enemy’s weakness, a better weapon. This means the action never gets stale. You see him fail, adapt, and improve in real-time. One scene has him dying 5 different ways in 5 minutes, each death funnier and more creative than the last.
