When he touched it, the simulation glitched—just for a second—and he saw a girl in a yellow raincoat standing at the end of the street. She wasn't there in the next frame.

Ryuu01 had been designed for this. A third-generation chassis with a reinforced spinal column and emotion-dampened cognition. "The Unbreaker," the techs called him.
