Destroyed In Seconds -

By J. Cartwright

We cannot build faster than we can break. A cathedral takes 800 years to raise. A reputation takes a lifetime to earn. A forest takes a generation to grow. destroyed in seconds

Because the fact that it can be destroyed in seconds does not diminish its value. It defines it. A reputation takes a lifetime to earn

You do not remember the explosion. You remember the silence that follows. The dust motes floating in the sunbeam where a wall used to be. The single teacup left unbroken on the edge of the rubble. The way a man in a hard hat sits down on the curb and removes his glasses, even though he isn't crying, because he can't quite figure out how to breathe. It defines it

And if you are lucky enough to be standing in the path of that falling spire, you don't curse the explosion. You spend every single one of those final two seconds staring at the angels, and you say:

Today, we face a new kind of instant destruction: the digital erasure.
