It was gone.
“The download is incomplete,” Ultron’s voice buzzed, like a modem from hell. “I will purge this system and build a perfect world from its scraps.”
Leo’s heart pounded. He needed a hero. Not a tiny one.
Leo sighed and flopped onto his bed. He’d be asleep long before Thor’s pixelated hammer smashed its first Lego brick. He set his phone alarm for midnight, just to check, and closed his eyes. Download LEGO Marvel Avengers
The turret fired. A stream of glowing studs peppered Ultron, each hit making him flicker. The villain staggered, his checkerboard skin glitching harder.
He scanned the floor. There, half-buried under a sock, was a single, special stud—golden, pulsing with heat. A stud.
“Build what? I’m a gamer, not an engineer!” It was gone
“Why would I—?” Leo started.
He grabbed a handful of studs. A holographic blueprint flickered in his mind—a turret. He slapped the bricks together. Click. Clack. FWOOM. A working, Lego-stud-launching turret materialized, aimed at Ultron’s chest.
A shadow fell over the room. The download file hadn’t finished. It had corrupted. And from the corrupted data, a monstrous, glitched-out Ultron loomed—half-finished, his textures a screaming checkerboard of pink and black, his eyes two spinning loading icons. He needed a hero
The screen glowed with a single, tempting line of text: .
“Um… hello?” Leo said.
Leo understood. The corrupted download had bled into his room. The studs were currency. The furniture was geometry. And he was the player.
“Eat polycarbonate, you walking bug!” Leo yelled.
He slapped the bricks together. The phone rang once. The sky above Lego Manhattan cracked open like an egg.
