I recently dug out my old Navman F20 GPS unit to update the maps, but I ran into the classic driver issue on Windows 7. The device connects via USB, but Windows doesn't recognize it correctly (shows as "Unknown Device" or fails to load the driver). Native support is broken for 64-bit
Any help is appreciated! I just want to pull my old track logs off this device.
After a lot of trial and error, I wanted to share what worked (and ask for advice if anyone has a better solution).
The Navman F20 uses a proprietary USB protocol, not standard mass storage. The official drivers from Navman/ MiTac were signed for Windows XP/Vista (32-bit). Windows 7 (especially 64-bit) often rejects them due to driver signing or outright incompatibility.
