A clock chimes twice outside. Meera’s hand trembles as she touches the box. The door creaks.
“I’m saying… don’t go downstairs after the third bell.” CUT TO: COURTYARD – 2:00 AM Three bells ring from the haveli’s old temple tower. Meera, unable to sleep, creeps down the stairs. The house is dark except a single lantern near the well.
“Curiosity is the first debt you pay in this house, beti.”
“Maa, I wasn’t—”
Thunder cracks. The lights flicker. Meera steps back.
