Ravan Samhita Odia Book [ VALIDATED | 2025 ]
The Ravan Samhita (ରାବଣ ସଂହିତା) is a revered and mystical text in the Odia literary and spiritual tradition. While the name “Ravan” immediately evokes the image of the ten-headed antagonist of the Ramayana, this book presents a strikingly different perspective—that of Ravan as a great scholar, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, and a master of astrology, Ayurveda, and occult sciences. What is the Ravan Samhita? Originally believed to have been composed in Sanskrit, the Ravan Samhita is attributed to King Ravan of Lanka. The text is primarily a treatise on Jyotisha (Vedic astrology) and Samhita (astronomical compilations) . It is said to contain Ravan’s profound knowledge of planetary movements, auspicious timings (muhurta), omens, and remedial rituals.
