While Kenshin is in the mountains, Sanosuke, Kaoru, and Yahiko aren’t relegated to cheerleaders. Sanosuke’s confrontation with Anji the Destroyer (a monk who uses martial arts to channel his grief over dead orphans) is a philosophical gut-punch.
