The (handheld) is a necessary evil for Simplex service work. It is overpriced, under-featured, and has a cryptic interface. However, it is also indispensable for quick field changes when you don’t want to unpack a laptop. If you only touch Simplex panels once a month, skip it and use the PC software. If you are on a panel daily, you will learn to tolerate its quirks.
