Consumed by rage, Anakin slaughters the entire tribe—men, women, and children. He returns to Padmé, weeping with guilt and self-loathing, confessing, "I am a Jedi. I am not supposed to do this." He vows to become powerful enough to prevent death itself. Anakin and Padmé rush to Geonosis to warn Obi-Wan, who has been captured while spying on a Separatist summit. Meanwhile, Senator (now the former Queen of Naboo) has returned to Coruscant to vote on a controversial measure to create a Republic Army—a proposal her security adviser believes makes her a target for assassination. Act One: The Assassination Plot and an Unwelcome Guardian Padmé arrives on Coruscant, but her shuttle explodes moments after landing—a failed assassination attempt.
